Signature Dishes

Since 1973, Major has introduced signature dishes that have advanced the catering industry. Major's creations came about when "tiny" didn't exist, but where three mouthful hors d'oeuvres were the norm and where a canapé was a cracker or dried piece of bread with something on top.

Over the years Nicky has perfected the real "bite-size" hors d'oeuvre and dessert. Major has done away with the stuffed cherry tomatoes and celery sticks and replaced it with hand made cones, blinis, and edible spoons!

The Vancouver catering scene was yet again changed when Nicky unveiled the "extended cocktail"- a dinner to be passed or displayed. The only thing that seemed to be missing from this idea was how to pass a salad? By creating salads that can be hand held or displayed, Major completed the extended cocktail experience. In evolving the classics- Niscoise, Caesar, Spinach, California and Cobb into unique rolls, Major developed the Signature Salads. This year, Major has added the Asian Noodle chopstick to their impressive lineup of Signature Dishes.

Major's signature hors d'Oeuvres and petit desserts are often copied but never equaled. Nicky believes in simple, fresh and wonderful- beliefs that have kept Major the Gourmet a cut above the rest. Major continually sets the bar for new creations. Look for more signature dishes in the near future.
